Did you know that the Pope has an official preacher who leads retreats for the papal household twice a year? Did you know that the Capuchin friar currently in the position has been serving for the longest time in history? Learn about the Cardinal, how the Catholic Charismatic Renewal impacted his life, and his mission to spread the authentic joy and truth of the gospel.
The secret to Saint Paul’s profound apostolic ministry is the depths of his conversion, which is considered the greatest in Church history. His encounter with Jesus on the road to Damascus was only the beginning of Saul’s transformation into the great Apostle Paul. His radical response was to withdraw for three years to Arabia. (Gal 1:17) It was there, alone in prayer, that Paul began “to grasp the length, the height and the depth” of God. (Eph 3:19)
The Catholic Charismatic Renewal has a specific vocation and responsibility in regard to the unity of Christians. Its ecumenical vocation appears even more evident if we think back to what happened at the beginning of the Church. What did the Risen One do to prompt the apostles to welcome the Gentiles into the Church? God sent the Holy Spirit on Cornelius and his household in the same way and with the same manifestations with which he had sent the Spirit on the apostles at the beginning. Peter could therefore only draw the conclusion that “If then God gave the same gift to them as he gave to us when we believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I that I could withstand God?” (Acts 11:17).
How Does the Holy Spirit Create Unity in Diversity? By Sr. Mary Anne Schaenzer, SSND I am a believer in having a sense of the big picture. This article will hopefully paint a glimpse of the larger portrait of how the Holy Spirit is moving in the area of gifting and directing charisms for service.
Let us come together October to celebrate in Thanksgiving all that the Lord has done! I think of the ten lepers that were healed and only one returned to thank Jesus. Do you know what Jesus said? “Where are the other nine? I seems that no one has come back to give praise to God, except tis foreigner.” (Lk 17:11-19) What about you, will you return to gave thanks?
God is a relational God. God is love and we must know that God loves us personally. Adam and Eve had an intimate relationship with God. God knew them— He truly knew them. He walked with them, He talked with them and He desires this relationship with us. How do we get there? God takes the initiative. God chooses us. We are His special possession. We must respond with humility and we must surrender our wills. “Let it be done to me according to Your Will”, not mine. Ask the Blessed Mother for this Grace. Jesus says, “Leave yourself in My Hands I will use you as seems best to Me.”
